A (Healthy) Daily Routine | A Day in My Life

This is a list of what I do to get ready every morning on a weekly basis. Everything from my morning routine, to what I eat to stay healthy, and even how simple everyday makeup can be.

  1. WAKE UP EARLY

One of the hardest things to do for so many is getting up early. I am thankfully a morning person so over the past 22 years of my life I have been able to develop this practice. I am strict with myself on when I get up. I ALWAYS give myself 2 hours to get ready. This includes: shower, eat breakfast, make my lunch and snacks, and on the rare occasion I am ahead of schedule, put on makeup. Then I am off to work or class.

Lately however, I get up 15 mins before my two hours because my goal is to get the shower out of the way and be dressed and ready exactly two hours before activities for the day.

  1. EXERCISE

If I don’t have work or class until the afternoon or later, I try to workout earlier in the day. For instance, Thursdays I don’t have class until 1:30. Instead of sleeping in late, I try to get up between 8:30-9:30 and either run the loop (5k/3 miles), go to the gym, OR do a HIT routine. However during my longer days, work could be 9-5 or for a part of the day and class immediately after, sometimes I exercise between 4:30-6 PM.

Exercise has always been something that I have a really hard time sticking too. I have come a long way from where I was a year and half ago, healthwise. Fitness is something I’m still training myself to be more disciplined about. I always workout more in the summer than during the school year.

  1. BREAKFAST

Breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day!!! I am paleo, which means no dairy, carbs (such as bread, rice, beans/legumes, potatoes), or refined sugar. VEGGIES, FRUITS AND PROTEIN BBY! I always have a one egg omelet with spinach with a banana on the side covered in almond butter (or cashew), chia seeds and shredded unsweetened coconut. If they’re not on the expensive side I have avocado with my omelet as well. Along with the food, I drink 20 oz of water and green tea with a splash of lemon juice. I try to have 64 oz of water everyday.

  1. PREPARING LUNCH AND SNACKS

Everyday I have a salad with chicken; same dressing too. For snacks, I buy/pack whatever fruit is in season/on sale at the time. That way, I don’t get bored with what I’m eating during the day. I also pack nuts and dates. I also prepare my chicken the night before so I’m not rushing in the morning.

  1. MAKEUP

I pretty much do makeup between 1-4 times a month if any. Makeup is a lot of fun and makes me feel good, but I’m not dedicated enough to stay on top of it and I love the way I look with or without makeup. I am OBSESSED with the 1920s so I try to attempt makeup resembling that era or I do something simple and natural. I’m still learning different techniques and looks. I recently have become interested in brows and contouring!

  1. UNWINDING FOR THE DAY

After a long day I like to chill. Yes I do my homework, but I’m referring to later, around 6:30-7 PM. I like to go on Tumblr. I spend 1-3 hours reblogging and looking at beautiful images of nature, architecture, food etc…. It is something I do habitually; if I don’t look at Tumblr for like three days, I will spend extra time that next day catching up with what I missed. It is something that calms me down. I also have my favorite shows and of course Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube are great. I also LOVE reading. My mom runs one of our local book stores.
